An Analytical Insight into Highland Capital Management 13F Report Of 2015

Highland Capital Management released its quarterly 13F report for 2015 in the first week of the year. According to this report, this hedge fund firm has a portfolio value of over $3.42 billion. There has been a decrease of $1.49 billion from $4.91 billion the previous quarter. This represents a change in market value of -30.41 %. The firm had a total turnover percentage of 22.37 %. The statistics in this report represent about 22.73% of the assets listed in the United States by Highland Capital Management.

The report also contained statistics about the firms stocks activity. The firm recorded 69 new stock purchases in addition to the other 62 purchases. The firm was able to sell out 119 stocks. Despite this amazing statistics, the general stock activity reduced by 80 from the previous quarter. Highland Capital Management had 29.55% of its stock activity in its top 10 holdings. The report also confirmed that the firm has over $15.04 billion in assets under management.

The report indicates that this firm was able to acquire new positions at Spdr S&P 500 Etf Tr (Call) (SPY) for $67.07 million, Amazon Com Inc (AMZN) for $23.35 million and Eagle Pharmaceuticals Inc (EGRX) for $17.73 million. Other new positions were acquired in Danaher Corp Del (DHR) for $17.24 million and Intra Cellular Therapies Inc (ITCI) for $15.90 million. These companies represent the top 5 new positions from total o 69 new stocks acquired by the firm. Highland Capital Management acquired 1.96% in Spdr S&P 500 Etf Tr (Call), 0.68% in Amazon Com Inc, 0.52% in Eagle Pharmaceuticals Inc, 0.50% in Danaher Corp Del and 0.46% in Intra Cellular Therapies Inc.

According to the report, the firm spread investments in all sectors of the economy. The top five sectors in allocation include health care with 20 %, information technology with 18 %, finance with 18 %, energy with 12 % and consumer discretionary 10 %.
