road trip: bloggie style

What a weekend!! This is the first chance I’ve had to sit down and write about it, because I had to work all day on Monday and on Tuesday afternoon, not to mention the tons of photos I had to go through (and I’m still not done yet!).

Jen and I got to meet our other bloggie friend, Janet, in Washington, DC, and it was a GREAT time. Janet was a fabulous hostess and made us feel totally at home. We somehow made it into DC without hitting any bad traffic, so poor Janet greeted us in her pajamas and apologized profusely for not yet showering. But Jen and I, as moms who know ALL ABOUT not showering and still being in pajamas at 3:00pm, knew right away that we were all going to get along just fine. ;)

On Friday we made our own pizzas and played the game Dirt and talked over drinks (just MockTails for me, of course!). Jen got to play Guitar Hero for the first time, while I did a lot of off-roading during my first attempts at Mario Kart Wii. We made breakfast burritos on Saturday morning (and I tried avacado for the first time–YUM!) and then headed out to see the sights of Washington, DC. Looking back at the photos, it’s amazing how much we got to see in one day, despite what felt like a leisurely pace! And thankfully even the weather cooperated: just a few brief sprinkles of rain. After our delicious dinner at a local Thai restaurant, we got into our pajamas and ate ice cream and watched a lot of quality reality TV. We also stayed up to watch Dirty Dancing until 1:30am (because once you start watching, you HAVE to see the end). Most of all I remember laughing a lot; that was the best part. I think I needed a little Me Time and Friends Time more than I knew!

Hanging out with Jen and Janet felt like visiting with old college friends (which is what my mom thinks we are anyway, heh). It was like stepping into Janet’s blog for a while and picking up in the middle of a conversation. I think I can honestly say that, in real life, we are pretty much the same as you might imagine from reading our blogs. Jen and Janet are both funny and smart and pretty and super-easy to get along with. I still have NO IDEA how I got the chance to meet such cool people. I’m sure it was an accident. Like the Gilmore Girls episode in which Rory unknowingly sat down at the lunch table of the Puffs (a secret, elite sorority) and they asked her to join—except that I do not have her perfect skin, and none of us were wearing plaid skirts. But however it happened, I’m really glad that Jen and Janet let me join in on the fun!

Thanks for the awesome weekend, girls. I owe you a tour of… um… Stow? Akron? Cleveland? Hmm. Maybe we’ll have to meet up somewhere cooler than Ohio. Or else I’ll just have to load you up with a lot more ice cream and wine! ;)

Anyone else want to join us next time??

I am so glad you and Jen did recaps, now I can just point people here :)

Thanks for saying such nice things about me even though my cat peed on your pants (indirectly, I know) and my toilet overflowed in your presence, haha! It was a great weekend and I am so glad we did it! And both of your picture sets are amazing – I think I need to get one of those cameras for myself!

I love that you make as many Gilmore Girls references as I do. Kindred spirits!

LOL @Janet- yeah there were lots of pee/toilet incidents weren’t there? we won’t hold it against you. Our lives (or at least my life!) is far from sane. Overflowing toilets are just par for the course! ha

I love all the pictures!

Janet your kitchen is fab!!!

glad you guys had so much fun! great pics :)

I’ve been to DC already. I’ll make Ohio my next stop. ;)

You could totally show them around Cleveland (I’d help!) The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Science Museum, and Air & Space Museum are all right there on the waterfront. It they come in the summer and you really want to party, there’s Put-in-Bay. Or, if you wanted to stay south, take them to Canton to the Football Hall of Fame (you KNOW Jen would love that!) :)

Looks like so much fun. I love when you meet internet friends and things are easy and seamless. You look fabulous btw ;)
