a post before crashing into bed

Whew, what a weekend! I’m exhausted. I took a 3-hour nap yesterday afternoon, if that tells you anything!

First there was Halloween on Friday: Oliver’s first Trick-or-Treat was even more fun than we’d hoped! I found him a pirate costume from Old Navy online (on sale for only $12.99, woo!) and it was really cute. My favorite part was the hat. :)

Oliver the pirate

He was really shy about accepting candy (we only went to our two next door neighbors and the house across the street), but he loved “helping” us pass out candy at home. (Unfortunately our 7 bags of candy ran out in just 1 hour 15 min—SO MANY KIDS this year!) He was fascinated by all the kids in costumes, and when they said “Trick or Treat!” he would happily yell it right back!

He’s been carrying around his beloved “candies” nonstop since Friday night; they’re all smooshed and the wrappers are wearing out, but it’s so cute, and I’m glad that he had fun. George and I had a lot of fun, too. There is nothing like watching your child experience something new and seeing their face light up with joy.

A coworker of mine insisted that I need to dress up for Halloween along with Oliver, so she let me borrow (i.e. FORCED UPON ME) an angel costume. I only used the halo and wings though, because even an Angel Mama still has to be practical, yo. Jeans work much better than a long flowy gown when you have a 2-year old to chase around!

showing my true nature... HA HA

Then we spent Saturday and Sunday at my parent’s house to celebrate our 30th birthdays AND the fact that George passed the bar exam. George and I treated ourselves by going out to nice dinner alone followed by—you guessed it!—a couple hours in the book store (we obviously haven’t outgrown our NERDINESS). We also ate a lot of chocolate and watched a lot of football. That’s a perfect birthday weekend, if you ask me. ;)

a year older, but still ME :P

Tomorrow is election day, and I’ll be up bright and early to vote! Our polls open at 6:30am—I’m hoping the lines won’t be horrendously long because I only have one hour at most before I’d absolutely have to leave for work. I actually wouldn’t mind just going to bed and waking up on Wednesday, like Laura suggested. Or maybe just skipping all the way to Saturday.

Hope you all have a great week!

Oliver is just too cute! And your costume was just as adorable. Keepin’ it real with the jeans. I’ll totally be that mom. I’m glad you had a perfect birthday weekend. You sure are getting up early for voting! I don’t get to vote until sometime after 1 tomorrow because of work. Nothing will stop me for voting tho!

Rachies last blog post..To celebrate his birthday:

I’d actually like to skip to Friday. Fridays are my favorite days of the week. ;)
I’m avoiding most of my usual websites today.
I LOVED Oliver’s little pirate costume. Halloween will be so fun when Andrew is old enough to enjoy it. Although I think he did like checking out all the kids outside!
