estimated end date

It’s hard enough figuring out why I blog, but lately I’ve been wondering how long I will blog. I used to think I’d quit before I turned 30, back when I was in my *ahem* early twenties and I thought that I’d lose interest or be too busy, or that no one would be reading by the time I was “THAT OLD.” (Hehe.) But since then I have become closer blog-friends with many of you and I can’t imagine NOT sharing my future second pregnancy with you. Soooo… six more months won’t cover it, since I’ll only (hopefully) be making the big announcement by that time.

However, I definitely do not want to blog into my forties. Why? Well, it just freaks me out to think of being able to open a post about Oliver’s birth AND a post about his high school graduation. Now THAT would make me feel OLD!

My current goal is to blog through our future second child’s first birthday, which would be sometime in 2010, and then publish my last post on my 32nd birthday that year (since this blog begins on my 27th birthday, which would make exactly 5 years). I think that will be enough for me. We’ll see…

Do any of you have an event, age, or other time after which you think you’ll stop blogging?

Whoa. I didn’t realize we had to think about quitting. I’ve been writing on the internet in some form since I was like 15. I can’t imagine a time where I won’t be doing it. I just hop around from place to place, change goals, come up with new ideas, start over, etc.

@Laura: Oh, of course you don’t have to think about quitting, I just wondered if I was the only one. Maybe it’s because I started out much later than a lot of you, that I don’t see myself doing it forever…

I’m glad to hear YOU won’t be quitting though! :)

I can’t count how many times I’ve quit already!! I don’t know how long I’ll be doing it. I have cut down on so much of the writing part already so I don’t think it will be such a big deal for me. I am trying to get back into writing in my paper journal again. I used to write so much in these composition notebooks and I loved it.
I love to read everyone else’s blogs so as long as other people continue to blog, I will be happy! I hate the idea of you stopping though!

Yeah, I’ve never really thought about it myself. Weirdly enough….I’ve been blogging as long as Laura! Since I was 14 or 15! I don’t remember all of the places I kept my blog, but wow…ten years of blogging. Blogging….is second nature to me. I imagine I’ll stay online until I at least have one kid. :) I can’t wait to share it with all of the friends I’ve made over the years by blogging….

So..no…no set date to quit. At the moment. :)

I’m with Laura and Mel- I’ve never even thought about the quitting part! I guess it’s just kind of open-ended in my mind… though I’m sure once our kid(s) get older and have friends who are on the internet, my sharing will be much less. Or maybe a private blog, just for friends and family to keep up with things (we have a lot of family out of town!)

I will miss you if you quit :(

when I quit liking my blog and liking blogging, I’ll quit. I do my best not to overthink blogging in general or I would have quit years ago.

Don’t leave me — in a few years we’ll be BFFs! :)

I have never thought about it, but I do think I will be in for a much-reduced blogging schedule when I’m back in school this fall. I am sort of afraid that my blog will fall into months of neglect.
